Don Binney frequently marked his birthday not on the date but on Easter Sunday, when he was born, and sometimes with a visit to Christchurch where he would draw features of the landscape from places of spiritual significance in the city. These were rare works of inland landscape rather than the coastal and bird works for which he was well known.
