A rare and stunning evocation of the Marlborough coastal lagoons, where the artist often took inspiration; these later formed the basis of his abstract paintings. He sometimes took the college students he taught out to the coast in the early 1990s; and also discussed the significance and history of the lagoons with local iwi.
