Rare drawings, artist’s proofs and prints from Don Binney’s studio estate collection, ranging from a stunning early large drawing of Te Henga (1966), to his last and largest screenprint, Mill Creek, Rakiura (see below for all images). These works have been released by the Binney family to initiate a major book on the works and life of Don Binney (1940-2012), to be authored by noted arts writer Gregory O’Brien, in association with Auckland University Press. (Please contact us if you have significant works which could be considered for publication in the book). This is the first solo exhibition of Binney works since 2012.

Update: until November 10, group exhibition including a few works by Binney, paintings by James Robinson, John Walsh, Michael Smither, Mary McFarlane, and prints including McCahon’s ‘North Otago Landscape’. Enquire for images.

Few enough of Don Binney’s works remained in his studio collection, such was the following for his work throughout his career, however we have found real treasures. It is a privilege to present this remarkable selection.
